The family trip to Lightscape at the Melbourne Botanic Gardens a few weeks ago. “Wominjeka” is an Indigenous greeting meaning “welcome” in the Woi-wurrung language of the Wurundjeri people and the Boon Wurrung language of the Bunurong people. The word is a Welcome to Country in Melbourne, signifying coming with purpose, a welcome with ritual, learning, and a deeper sense of obligation and connection.
