A juvenile bin chicken otherwise known as the Australian white ibis, Threskiornis molucca, during a lunchtime walk in Rowville. They are nicknamed bin chickens because of their “opportunistic” feeding and scavanging, which often finds them ransacking rubbish bins.
Apparently Great Egrets, Ardea alba, fly with their legs trailing behind them and their neck in an “S” shape.

Zoe in the Lego tram in Melbourne Central’s Lego Store. I love it when they get the details right. 961 is a 1950-built W8 Class tram that was was used on the City Circle. While Billund is the home of Lego, Legoland, the Lego House, and Lego Headquarters in Denmark.
I’m not sure that I want to meet this tram driver on the road, I think there might be a lot of “Ding, Ding, Ding” action!

Ancestral Worship by Jaz Mishap (Jaz Miu) is a mural and lighting installation in Drewery Place. This piece was commissioned by the City of Melbourne.
This mosaic is on the back of Legacy House in Drewery Lane. It commemorates Sir Stanley Savige who founded the charity Legacy in 1923. Legacy supports the families of service-men and -women who died or lost their health in conflicts or through service-related activities. Surrounding the piece are a selection of the ceramic tiles remembering lost family members. This larger mosaic is the work of Sankar Nadeson. The mosaic is based on the 1958 portrait by Alfred Cook for the Australian War Memorial.
Sir Stanley enlisted in the AIF and saw action in Gallipoli, eventually rising to Lieutenant General accepting the Japanese surrender of Bougainville in 1945.

Disconnected from Legend and Reality
Another gem from Drewery Lane in Melbourne’s CBD, and another Greek myth. This time Baucis and Philemon, the only people in the village to offer hospitality to the disguised gods Zeus and Hermes. They asked that when one of them died, that the other would die as well. When they died, the couple were transformed into entwined trees, an oak and a linden.

The stored Harris rail greaser unit (794M and 797M) at the Newport Railway Workshops Open Day 2026. This unit is from the last build, and does not contain asbestos unlike earlier units. The Harris units were commonly referred to as Blue Trains as they wore VR’s Blue and Yellow livery similar to T364. The Harris units started to replace the Tait unit, known as Red Rattlers.
