It’s been a while since we have walked through the Mooroolbark Miniature Railway. Since our last trip going this way a new series of murals has appeared on one of the sheds. This show a Victorian Railways (VR) A2 class 4-6-0 coming out of the shed. The A2 class was the first class of steam engines designed and built in-house by VR in 1907.
Victorian Railways K Class K190 brings the Mitcham-Mooroolbark shuttle service into Mooroolbark, with K153 bringing up the rear.

This view has now been consigned to history. The station and the level crossings have been swept away by an elevated railway line and station.

K153 was in light steam on the Mitcham end of yesterday’s post on K190. The Victorian Railways K Class must hold some kind of record in the preservation scene with 21 of the 53 built still surviving in various states.

Another evening, another dog walk. This time under threatening clouds, luckily the rain seemed to go all around us and we made it home dry.
One of the joys of an evening dogwalk, the chance of sunbeams! This is a great spot on the Carrum to Warburton Trail for sunsets and cloudy skies.
I’m loving the early summer evenings. Cool evenings before the killer heat of late summer and the longer days or daylight savings.
With the recent increase in allowed exercise time, I took the opportunity to explore a little further. I wanted to push along the Melbourne Water pipe track a little further towards Mt Evelyn. This is the view from above Pine Road looking back down on the Zina Grove Reserve and back towards home.
