No 21 Dredger and Zoe

No 21 Dredger and Zoe

This is dredger number 21 at Power Works in Morwell back in 2016, with a Zoe for scale.

This was the first bucket wheel excavator to be used at the Morwell open cut. No 21 Dredger worked between October 1955 and August 1992, and was used to excavate overburden and to supply brown coal to the Yallourn power station. No. 21 Dredger is significant as an example of the first generation of German built Bucket Wheel Excavators used by the SECV. The design originated in German brown coal mines in the mid-1930s. No. 21 Dredger was one of the earliest uses of German continuous mining techniques and technology to be applied outside of Germany.

Melbourne Central - Zoe and the Lego Tram

Zoe in the Lego tram in Melbourne Central’s Lego Store. I love it when they get the details right. 961 is a 1950-built W8 Class tram that was was used on the City Circle. While Billund is the home of Lego, Legoland, the Lego House, and Lego Headquarters in Denmark.

I’m not sure that I want to meet this tram driver on the road, I think there might be a lot of “Ding, Ding, Ding” action!

Melbourne LIghtscape 2025

An early finish to the dogs shows today and a beautiful Melbourne winter day meant we had chance to visit the light show at Lightscape. Lightscape is a sound and light installation in the Royal Botanic Gardens. We squeezed in on the last weekend of the show and there wasn’t too much of a crowd, helped by the timed admission tickets. There are sure to be more photos to follow.
