The world’s first hybrid solar powered hot air balloon – the Bristol Energy branded, black and silver, Cameron Z-150 G-CIRX. The black side allows for solar power collection while the silver side can reflect solar power allowing the pilot to control the solar energy collected by rotating the balloon.

Clifton Suspension Bridge 2
Great Western Railway icon Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed the Clifton Suspension Bridge, but it wasn’t completed until after his death. Hawkshaw and Barlow altered the design to use chains from the recently demolished Hungerford bridge in London, another Brunel design.
John Hawkshaw went on to design the Severn Tunnel for the GWR, while Barlow designed Barlow rails used for the GWR’s broad gauge and more famously the St Pancras railway station for the Midland Railway.

Fortnum and Mason – G-FMGB
Fortnum & Mason Cameron Z-90 G-FMGB in F&M’s signature Eau de Nil – water of the Nile. This was one of only three hot air balloons that we saw tethered on the “big” event day Saturday, 12th August 2017.
There were big crowds at Ashton Court ready for a mass ascent and night glow, but high and unpredictable winds forced a cancellation on safety grounds.

The recently replaced Great Western Air Ambulance was involved in a simulated road accident at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2017. G-GWAA is a Eurocopter EC135 operated by the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
