Common reed, phragmites australis, inflorescences or seed heads seen in the Corhanwarrabul Creek next to Stud Road in Rowville. The reeds can grow up to 6 metres tall and are often used for thatched roofs in Europe.

Hard Rubbish Ephemera
Connor checks out the rest of the hard rubbish while I photograph the Telecom Australia Optical Fibre Digital Communication fridge magnet. Telecom Australia became Telstra in 1993, so the magnet is at least 30 years old – and seems to be holding up way better than the filing cabinet.

It’s been a while since we have walked through the Mooroolbark Miniature Railway. Since our last trip going this way a new series of murals has appeared on one of the sheds. This show a Victorian Railways (VR) A2 class 4-6-0 coming out of the shed. The A2 class was the first class of steam engines designed and built in-house by VR in 1907.
