Another unexpected bonus from a lunchtime walk in Rowville – Pleroma, glory bush or purple glory tree.
The salsify flowers are pretty enough, but the real attraction are the seed heads or puff balls which come in about 10cm across. This really shows the family resemblance with their dandelion relatives.
Another one from our small bulb patch in the front garden. The harlequin flowers share a bed with the lily.
