A red-tailed black cockatoo in the Great Flight Aviary at the Melbourne Zoo.

When I got home yesterday I was greeted by this sulphur-crested cockatoo.

It seems that yellow-tailed black cockatoos are like buses. After seeing a pair just before Christmas and up pop another pair yesterday while on a bike ride with Zoe.

Another lovely lunchtime surprise, a pair of yellow-tailed black-cockatoos beside one of the Rowville lakes. One of them was on a branch over the footpath and took off as I walked underneath – scaring the living daylights out of me. These are seriously big birds, especially when they are at head height!
