The Royal Mint of Victoria, or the Melbourne Mint, on the corner of William and La Trobe Streets. The mint opened as a branch of the Royal Mint in 1872, and produced a variety of coins right up to the decimal age in 1968. The coat of arms is the work of wood sculptor, Walter Langcake, and were added in the mid twentieth century.
The Mint is now the home of Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum
