Autumn has come, daylight saving is over. The days are getting shorter and the trees are beginning to lose their leaves. New motion detection lights at the Elizabeth Bridge Reserve are a welcome addition, and help to provide a photo opportunity.

Heaton’s Monument at the Point Nepean Quarantine Station. The monument marks the location of the original Quarantine Station cemetery on the shore of Port Phillip. Heaton was the supervisor who built much of the station and had the monument built at his own expense. The monument stands as a tribute to all of the migrants who perished on the voyage or soon after.

The New Zealand Christmas Tree – Pōhutukawa – is a riot of red flowers that comes to a crescendo in late-December, seen here next to the Beehive. It is now under threat from the Aussie invader the possum and coastal farming.
