The Two Queens Meet in Sydney Harbour

This was the purpose of our visit to Sydney – to watch the passing of the two Cunard Queens.

Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Victoria pass Fort Denison.  The number of people on the water and on land watching the spectacle was truly amazing.  As the two ships began their pass they began sounding their horns, culminating in a simultaneous blast that was audible for around 16km (10 miles).

Queen Elizabeth 2 docked at Garden Island Naval Base Sydney

The QE2 docked at the Garden Island Naval Base in Sydney while the Queen Victoria was berthed at the Sydney International Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay.  This trip marked the QE2′s last visit to Sydney, exactly 30 years after her first visit, and the first visit to Sydney Harbour by the Queen Victoria.
