Ring of Brodgar #2
It’s a bit hard to take in the scale of the standing stones at the Ring of Brodgar, they just aren’t as familiar as say Stonehenge. That is unless you have a pair of convenient models! These giant stones are surrounded by a three metre deep ditch that was hewn out of solid bedrock.

Skara Brae and Skaill House
One of the places that I was really looking forward to seeing in Orkney was Skara Brae, the prehistoric settlement that predate Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids. It seemed strange to be so far away from anywhere and suddenly surrounded by people!
