Samoyed Christmas – 2011

One tradition on the Victorian Dog Showing circuit is the annual Samoyed Club of Victoria’s Santa Sleigh pull at the the Yarra Valley Kennel Club show. This is the last show before Christmas at KCC Park, so it is an excellent opportunity for some Santa action.

Samoyeds were  originally bred for reindeer herding and sledge hauling in the artic, making them a good choice to help Santa; something that they managed admirably with a little guidance from their owners.

Naked Ladies

Amaryllis belladonna [^], or “naked ladies”, are a bulb with strap-like deep green leaves. In summer the leaves die off after which a single 50cm flower stalk appears from the bare earth. They sure make a striking presence in the garden late summer.
