Lilydale Hot Air Balloons

On an early morning expedition today we had a surprise. As we came past the Lilydale Cemetery and Memorial Park we saw three hot air balloons being prepared for take-off in the fog.

What a fantastic start to any day! The sight of balloons always brings a smile to my face – even if I see them on the way to work.

Winter Solstice

Sunrise in Kilsyth on the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice occurs for a moment when the earth is at its maximum tilt away from the sun, giving us the shortest day. And it was a beautiful foggy, and very cold, morning – just right for catching the sunrise.

Giant Campbells Can

Giant Can of Soup

A giant can of Campbell’s soup can be found towering over the Campbell’s factory [^] on the outskirts of Shepparton [^] in North-eastern Victoria.

It makes for a quite disconcerting sight, a massive can of soup, in the classic Campbell’s livery, suspended over the fruit trees that are normal associated with the city! But what a wonderful sight it makes against an early morning blue sky.

Melbourne City Skyline

Melbourne Skyline

The Melbourne skyline just before sunset from IKEA in Richmond. Nothing really sticks out as being quintessentially Melbourne here, but it is a lovely summer silhouette.

Light Trails

Eastern Freeway Light Trails

Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway. The original photo is a little dusty, and the scan didn’t go as well as I would have liked. But I love the light trails.

I will have to try this again with a digital camera.
