Stone Walls

Stone Wall

This is one of the walls of the ruined Ballycarberry Castle [^], just off of the Ring of Kerry, near Cahersiveen.

I climbed through a window here to get a photo of the outside. Coming back I jumped down from the window and went flying!

I thought for a minute that we would be visiting a hospital on day two of our honeymoon. Luckily the only damage was a grass-stained pair of jeans and my pride. Oh, and the new Mrs CannibalRabbit thought that the whole thing was absolutely hilarious – no wonder my pride was injured.

Upper Lake Glendalough

Glendalough means the valley of two lakes. Here is one of them, the Upper Lake from the patch of land separating the two lakes. Originally the valley had just one lake, but where the Poulanass River plunges into the valley from the side the lake has silted-up splitting the lake into two.

The pub that featured in the TV series – Ballykissangel. We got there as the sun was setting, making the yellow walls of the pub glow. Avoca is a pretty little place wedged in a steep river valley.
