The figurehead of the Cutty Sark is the Witch Nanny Dee from the Robert Burns poem Tam o’Shanter.
Nanny Dee chased the drunk Tam o’Shanter, who escaped over the Brig o’Doon. It was a close run thing with Nanny Dee pulling the tale off Tam’s horse, and this is caught here with the witch brandishing a horse’s tail.
